HATTIESBURG, Miss. - #12 William Carey Baseball opened up a three game home stand with an 11-1 run rule victory over #17 Loyola University, Thursday evening at Milton Wheeler Field.
 
The Crusaders got things going in the second inning loading the bases with no outs.  Brady Wilson then drove in the first run with an RBI groundout and Rigoberto Hernandez followed with a single to center to score Bobby Lada.  RJ Stinson capped the scoring in the inning with a RBI single to left to put Carey up 3-0.
 
The Wolfpack pushed across a run in the fifth on a WCU error but the Crusaders answered in the bottom half of the inning in the form of a two run homerun by Lada. A solo homerun in the sixth by Hernandez made it 6-1 WCU and Carey added three more runs in the seventh, highlighted by a two run blast from Billy Garrity.
 
WCU finished off the run rule victory in the eighth with two runs.  Andrew Shirah picked up the win on the mound going the distance allowing only one unearned run on two hits with eight strikeouts.
 
Carey is back in action today, as they wrap up the regular season with a double header.  First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm at Milton Wheeler Field.
