MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The William Carey Baseball Team opened up a three game SSAC series with an 11-9 victory over Brewton-Parker College Thursday afternoon.
The Crusaders got a two RBI single from
Brady Wilson in the first, RBIs by
Patrick Lee and
Jake Lycette in the second, and added a run in the fourth on a bases loaded walk to build a 5-0 advantage. However, the Barons would cut into the deficit in the fifth with three runs.
Carey answered with two runs in the sixth on a Wilson RBI groundout and a sac fly by
Caleb Laird. BPC managed to get one back in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-4 WCU. The Crusaders stretched their lead even further with a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth.
Brewton-Parker would not go away though, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and threatening in the ninth. After allowing back to back hits to allow one run to score in the ninth, relief pitcher
