Lady Crusaders Run Rule LCU, Sweep Double Header

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - #12 William Carey Softball swept a Monday afternoon double header against Louisiana Christian University, taking game one 8-0 and game two 9-1, at Joseph & Nancy Fail Field.

After be held to just one hit over the first two innings in the first game, the Carey offense finally came to life in the third.  Rachel Rodriguez delivered the first run on a RBI single.  Carley Kidder followed with a bases clearing double to left center to give WCU a 4-0 lead.  Susie LeBert and Chloe Oliver made it three straight doubles and give the Lady Crusaders a 6-0 lead.  The final runs of the game would come in the fourth and fifth on RBIs by Dee Dee West and Brooke Tanner for the run rule victory.

Haley Nations went all five innings in the circle allowing just two hits with seven strikeouts to pick up the win.

The Wildcats took the early lead in game two with a run in the top of the first but WCU took the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning.  West knocked in the first run with a triple to center and Kidder followed with a RBI single to make 2-1.

The Lady Crusaders would add to their lead with two runs in the second, three runs in the third, highlighted by a Alex Davis two run single to right, to take a 7-1 lead.  Carey would finish off the run rule victory in the fifth on a wild pitch and a Tanner RBI single.

Ryanne Hornsby picked up the win going four innings allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts.

WCU is back in action March 1, as they take on Bethel University.  First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm at Joseph & Nancy Fail Field.
