LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The William Carey Baseball team picked up a non-conference win over NCAA II opponent West Alabama, defeating the Tigers 3-2 Tuesday afternoon.
Billy Garrity gave the Crusaders the early lead in the first inning, scoring
RJ Stinson, with an RBI single. The 1-0 Carey lead would hold until the fifth inning, when UWA took the lead, scoring two runs on three hits.
The Tiger lead would be short lived, as WCU would take the lead in the top of sixth inning.
Preston Ratliff would tie the game at two with a sac fly to centerfield, scoring
Patrick Lee and a Tiger error would give the Crusaders a 3-2 lead.
Relief pitchers
Caeleb Williams and
John Snyder did the rest working four scoreless innings allowing only two hits to preserve the win with Snyder picking up the save.
Dario Herrera picked up the win on the mound going five innings, allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Carey is back in action Saturday, February 18, as they travel to Waleska, Ga. to take on Taylor University. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
