MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The William Carey Men's Basketball Team returned to SSAC play with a 97-95 victory over Faulkner University Tuesday night.
For the first ten minutes of the game both teams took turns with the lead but a three point basket by
Kolby Moore sparked an 11-2 run to give WCU a 35-24 lead with seven minutes to play. However, over the final seven minutes, the Crusader offense slowed a bit but would take a 45-39 lead into the break.
The Eagles came out of the break and wasted no time eventually tying the game at 56 all just six minutes into the half. That would be the last time the game would be tied though, as
Dylan Brumfield would drain a three point basket to give the Crusaders the lead for good.
From there Carey would take control slowly going on to build a 94-78 lead with four minutes left to play. However, Faulkner would not go quietly and with less than a minute to play battled back to cut the deficit to 95-92 but the Carey defense would hold strong to preserve the win.
Four different Crusaders finished in double figures led by
Dylan Brumfield with 26 points with
Earl Smith adding 25 points.
Ashton Campbell contributed 15 points while
Kaeden Laws had 13 points.
WCU is back in action Saturday, December 16, as they travel to New Orleans, La. to take on Loyola University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
