MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Coming off to tough loss the night before to Florida Memorial, the William Carey Men's Basketball Team bounced back Friday evening, defeating Coastal Georgia 77-64 to wrap up play in the SSAC/SUN Challenge.
Both teams got off slow start but with 10 minutes left in the first half, back to back baskets by
Kaeden Laws sparked a 16-2 run, to give the Crusaders a 25-11 lead with six minutes left. From there the Carey offense stayed hot stretching their lead to 36-19 at the half.
The WCU offense carried the momentum into the second half, maintaining a double lead the entire half while shooting 50% from the floor to preserve the win.
Dylan Brumfield led five Crusaders in double figures with 21 points.
Earl Smith,
Ankerion Gross, and
Kaeden Laws all finished with 12 points with
Ashton Campbell adding 11 points.
Carey is back in action Monday, November 6, as they take on Southern Miss. in an exhibition contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Reed Green Coliseum.
