MARIETTA, Ga. – The William Carey Women's Basketball team opened up the 2023 portion of their schedule with a 59-49 victory over Life University Thursday evening.
Things were back and forth until midway through the second quarter when the Running Eagles scored seven straight points to take a 24-18 lead. However, the Lady Crusaders halted the run and closed the half on a 9-1 run to take a 27-25 lead into the break.
Coming out of the break things remained close until a two point basket by
Rebekah Engle with four minutes left in third, sparked an 8-0 run to close the quarter. From there, Carey put the game away for good, stretching their lead to as many 17 points.
Rebekah Engle led the way finishing with 19 points and six rebounds while
Lauren Rowley added 17 points and seven rebounds.
WCU is back action Thursday, January 12, as they travel to Mobile, Ala. to take the University of Mobile in SSAC action. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
