HATTIESBURG, Miss. - #2 William Carey Women's Soccer opened their 2022 season with a 6-1 win over #14 Lindsey Wilson College Thursday evening, at
Danny Owens Field.
The Lady Crusaders offense wasted no time, as
Kauany Sousa put Carey up 1-0 just a minute into the contest on a pass from
Maria Azarias. Azarias followed up the assist, staking WCU to a 2-0 lead with a goal in the 18
th minute.
The 2-0 lead would hold going into the second half, until Alicia Thoresen for the Blue Raiders cut the lead in half with a goal in the 58
th minute. A minute later the Lady Crusaders pushed the lead back to two on a goal by
Julia Herbst.
Carey would put the game away with goals by Azarias and
Alyssia Davis (2).
WCU is back in action Saturday, as they head to Waleska, Ga. to take on #17 Reinhardt University. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
