WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The William Carey Men's Basketball Team overcame another slow start to defeat Webber International 63-59, Friday afternoon in the SSAC/SUN Challenge.
Webber opened the game with 11 straight points but the Crusaders settled down going on an 11-3 run with 11 minutes left to play in the first half. From there things remained close until the Warriors closed the half on an 8-2 run to take a 33-25 lead into the break.
Webber maintained the lead coming out of the break until
Josiah Moore,
Kolby Moore, and
Emile Kazeneza combined for 10 straight points to give the Crusaders their first lead of the game at 41-39. From there both teams went back and forth. With under six minutes left and the score tied at 53 all, the Crusaders made their move scoring seven straight points to take the lead for good.
Emile Kazeneza followed up his double double from yesterday with another one finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Willie Moody added 14 points while
Casey Smith finishing with 11 points.
Carey is back in action tomorrow as they wrap up play in the SSAC/SUN Challenge against Florida Memorial. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 am.
