HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Women's Basketball Team picked up their third straight SSAC win Monday night, defeating Talladega College 47-38 at Clinton Gym.
After a slow start, the Lady Crusaders found their footing, outscoring Talladega 13-5 in the second quarter, to take a 19-15 lead into the break. Coming out of the break, WCU stretched their lead seven on multiple occasions but the Tornadoes answered closing the gap to within one each time.
With Carey holding a 32-29 lead heading into the fourth quarter, WCU quickly seized control of the game, opening the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 41-31 lead and never looked back.
Rebekah Engle led the offense, finishing with 22 points and seven rebounds.
Kolten Blakeney added 10 points and six rebounds.
The Lady Crusaders are back in action Saturday, December 17, as they travel to Hilo, Hawaii, to take part in the Hoop & Surf Classic.
