HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Men's Basketball snapped a six game losing streak, defeating Stillman College 80-78, Saturday afternoon at Clinton Gym.
Things were close at the start until the 16 minute mark when Stillman slowly started to pull away. The Tigers would go on to take a 19-10 lead with 12 to play but WCU settled back down and cut the lead to 22-21 over the next two minutes. However, Stillman once again pulled away, leading by as many 11 before taking a 44-36 lead into the break.
The Tigers would maintain the lead for most of the second half. With the score 74-66 Stillman with under three minutes to play, the Crusaders would make their move.
Emile Kazeneza and
Kolby Moore cominbed for seven straight points to get Carey within one. From there WCU went seven out of eight from the free throw line to complete the comeback.
Kolby Moore led the offense finishing with a season high 23 points with
Emile Kazeneza adding 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Arturro Bingham came in with 12 points while
Earl Smith had 11 points.
WCU is back in action Monday, December 12, as they take on Talladega College in conference action. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm at Clinton Gym.
