Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The William Carey Volleyball season came to an end Friday afternoon, falling to Blue Mountain Christian University (BMCU) 3-0, in semifinal action of the SSAC Championship, presented by Dreamland BBQ.

In pool play against Life on Thursday WCU won the first and then dropped the next two sets to go down 2-1. In the fourth set, Carey found themselves trailing by nine points before erasing the deficit and battling to a 28-26 victory to force the deciding fifth set.

In the fifth set, the Lady Crusaders once again found themselves trailing, this time by a score of 9-4.  Once again Carey found the spark they were needing, going a 9-3 run to take a 13-12 lead.  With the score 14-13 in favor of the Running Eagles. Reagan Huff provided three straight points with two kills and an ace to give WCU the victory.

In their second match of the day on Thursday against Loyola New Orleans, Carey took an early 12-6 lead, only to see Wolfpack battle back, using an 8-1 to take the lead.  From there both teams traded shots, with the Wolfpack eventually taking the set 29-27.  Loyola left little to doubt in the second and third set taking them 25-16 and 25-19.

On Friday, WCU picked up and automatic win, due to Talladega College having to withdraw from the tournament.  Carey would then have to wait for the outcome of the Loyola and Life match to determine if they would make it to the semi-finals.  Life would go on to defeat the Wolfpack 3-1 forcing a one set tiebreaker.  In the tiebreaker set, Carey again found themselves in hole against the Running Eagles.  Trailing 22-19, the Lady Crusaders started their comeback, eventually battling to 26-24 win the advance to the semi-finals to take on BMCU.

Against the Toppers, things were tight, with both teams taking turns with the lead.  However, with the score tied at 20 all, BMCU closed the set on a 5-1 run for the win.  Things didn't start well for Carey in the second set as Blue Mountain pulled away early before going on to take the set 25-18.  WCU once again got off to slow start finding themselves down early 7-3.  Carey battled back, tying the set on multiple occasions, but BMCU used a 10-1 run to pull away and take the set 25-20 for the win.

William Carey ends the season with an overall record of 28-5 and a 15-3 mark in SSAC play.
