William Carey University

Brooks is a sophomore from Oxford, Mississippi majoring in Biology. Her freshman year she dropped major amounts of time in every race she swam. After a few months of swimming at Carey, she cut 4 seconds in both her 100 Free and 200 Breast, and 3 seconds in her 100 Breast. She qualified for nationals in the 100 (1:06.31) and 200 Breaststroke (2:25.94) and 4 relays with her team. During nationals, she made the podium in the 200 MD Relay and 400 MD Relay. Her favorite event is breaststroke.

She began swimming competitively at the age of 9 and has been swimming for over a decade. Specializing in breaststroke, she has earned championship titles at both the high school and club levels. Her personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.01) currently stands as the Oxford High School record. Her favorite events are the 50 and 100 breaststroke.

Outside the pool, Brooks has been recognized for her leadership—serving as team captain of her high school team, as well as the Junior and Senior Athlete Representative for Mississippi Swimming. Brooks is passionate about this sport and is not only committed to improving her times, but also to growing as a leader within her community.
