Head Coach Jeff Mixon enters his 17th season leading the William Carey University women’s golf program, where he has built one of the NAIA’s premier programs.
A 2009 William Carey graduate and PGA of America Class A Professional with the Gulf States PGA Section, Mixon has guided the Crusaders to sustained success on the conference and national levels. During his tenure, the program has captured 51 team championships and produced 46 individual tournament champions.
Under Mixon’s leadership, William Carey has claimed Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Women’s Golf Championships in 2016, 2024, and 2025 while finishing conference runner-up four times. His student-athletes have earned three SSAC Newcomer of the Year awards, two Freshman of the Year honors, four Player of the Year awards, 35 All-SSAC selections, nine All-Freshman Team honors, 17 All-Tournament Team selections, 40 SSAC All-Academic recognitions, and 30 SSAC Player of the Week awards. Carey golfers also won the SSAC Individual Championship in 2021 and 2024. Mixon has been named SSAC Coach of the Year four times (2015, 2017, 2024, and 2025).
Nationally, Mixon’s players have earned 13 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America honors, 22 WGCA Scholar-Athlete awards, and eight Palmer Cup nominations. The Crusaders have also produced one NAIA National Freshman of the Year, five NAIA National Players of the Week, 18 NAIA All-Americans, and 20 NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes while making nine NAIA National Championship appearances.
The 2023 season was highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the NAIA National Championship at TPC Deere Run, the highest national finish in program history. Since November 2014, William Carey has maintained a place in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, climbing as high as No. 3 nationally while also reaching No. 1 in the Golfstat rankings.
