Eric Ebers begins his 5th season as an assistant coach at William Carey. Ebers serves as the pitching coach for the Crusaders.

Ebers comes to William Carey after 5 years as an Assistant at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. In his 5 seasons, MGCCC went 154-104, making 3 regional appearances, including back to back Regional appearances for the first time since 2006 in 2018-2019. While at MGCCC, he was responsible for the pitching, and recruiting, where he helped over 30 players move on to 4-year institutions, including 2 MLB Draft Selections, and saw players graduate at a 98% clip. He saw 5 Pitchers of the Week and 1 Player of the Year. Under his tutelage, the pitching staff at MGCCC finished in the top 10 of NJCAA Division II in ERA 2 of the 5 years and top 20 3 out of 5 years. Over the last 4 seasons his pitching staffs were among the top 5 in the MACJC in ERA, Opponent Batting Average, WHIP, and Strikeouts per 9 IP. Each of Ebers 5 seasons the pitching staff posted better numbers in WHIP, ERA and Opponents’ Batting Average.

Before MGCCC Ebers had stints at UT-Martin (2011, 2014), Delta State (2012-2013), Niagara Power of NYCBL (2009-2011) Columbus High School (MS) (2008-2010), Steeleville High School (IL) (2007), and Ackerman High School (2006)

While at UT Martin Ebers oversaw the Outfielders and Hitters in 2011. The UTM Baseball Team made the OVC tournament for the 2nd time in the schools Division 1 history and won the school’s first ever OVC tournament game. 2011 also so the first player in school history drafted (OF - Trey Karlen). In 2014 Ebers returned transitioning to the pitching Staff where the produced the lowest ERA over a span of 10 years, and 2nd lowest in the schools Division 1 history and would improve in 12 statistical categories from the previous year. In his 2 years at UTM 4 players spanning (2011-2014) would hear their name called in the MLB Amateur draft, including Chicago Cubs pitcher Alec Mills.

During his time at Delta State University, Ebers was a graduate assistant responsible for the Outfielders and assisting with hitters. In two years, the Statesmen went (93-26) seeing 2 regular season GSC Championships, 2 NCAA Division II regional appearances, 1 GSC Tournament Championship, 1 World Series Appearance in 2012 where Delta State would finish Runner-Up in the Championship game. Over the span of 2 seasons 6 players would get their name called in the MLB Amateur Draft.

With the Niagara Power of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (affiliated with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Ebers spent 1 season as a Pitching Coach, and 2 as the Head Coach. In 2011 the Power made the NYCBL Playoffs for the first time in program history, setting a record with 25 wins. There would be 4 players off the 2011 team that would be drafted in the MLB Amateur Draft.

Ebers oversaw the Pitching Staff and Junior High Program at Columbus High School for 3 years. Ebers would lead the Middle School to 2 Conference Championships and a 35-21 record, taking over a 2- year winless program.

During his stints at Steeleville and Ackerman (both 1-year) he saw 2 Conference Championships and 1 regional Runner-Up.

Before Coaching, Ebers played 3 years in the Professional Independent leagues. (Frontier – Gateway and River City), (Northern – Kansas City), and (American Association – Lincoln and El Paso.

Ebers pitched collegiately at John A. Logan College where the 2002 team went to the NJCAA Division 1 World Series, where he finished 2nd in the Nation in ERA (1.82) and was selected Freshman of the year. In 2 years he was All-GRAC twice and All- Region 24 once. After Logan Ebers transferred to Mississippi State University where he was a part of the 2005 SEC Tournament Champion Bulldogs team. He was a part of the pitching staff that finished top 5 in the nation in ERA in 2005.

Ebers is married to the former Katie Leech of Jacksion, Miss. They have a son and a daughter, (Enoch, and Ellie), and they attend Heritage United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg. He holds a Masters of Education from Delta State University.
