MOBILE, Ala. – The William Carey Men's Tennis Team went 2-1 over the weekend, picking up wins over (RV) Milligan and (RV) SCAD-Atlanta but fell to #17 SCAD-Atlanta.
"After reaching the Semi-Finals at the ITA National Indoors last weekend in Kansas City, Mo. days of long traveling did not really leave us that much time to recover and prepare for this tournament," said Head Coach Marc Lux. "I knew we would be up for a challenge and the team got two good wins but lost a close one to #17 SCAD Savannah. We can compete with anyone in the country, but we have to get more solid overall and improve our focus in crucial situations. We will work on it and get better."
On Thursday against Milligan, the Crusaders took the doubles point with wins at the #2 and #3 spots.
Artur Ibragimov took the first point in singles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory with
Jean Nicolas Leblanc making it 3-0 WCU with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
David Bagrinovski finished off the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Against SCAD-Savannah on Friday, Carey found themselves trailing 1-0 after dropping the doubles point.

Jean Nicolas Leblanc kept the hope alive for Carey winning 6-1, 7-6 at the #6 spot but SCAD took the win, taking the point at the #4 position.
The Crusaders shook off the Friday loss leaving little to doubt against SCAD-Atlanta on Saturday. Carey took the early 1-0 lead, winning all three matches in doubles.
