LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The William Carey Men's Tennis Team wrapped up their Georgia road trip with a 4-0 victory over Campbellsville University Friday morning to end the trip with a 2-1 record.
Against #1 Georgia Gwinnett on Friday, the Grizzles took the point at doubles and would extend their lead with wins at #4 singles and #1 singles. The Crusaders would get within one point with
Islam Orynbassar winning 6-4,6-2 at #2 singles and
Jean Nicolas Leblanc winning 6-4,6-2 at #6 singles. However, GGC would seal the victory with a win at #5 singles.
Carey then set their sights on Indiana Wesleyan that afternoon. Antonie Audrain/
Noah Rockstroh and Orynbassar/Leblanc would secure the doubles point for the Crusaders.
Louis Steinbichler would win 6-3,6-0 at #5 singles with Rockstroh winning 6-1,6-0 at #3 singles. Leblanc would secure the win with a 6-1,6-1 win at #6 singles.
On Friday, the Crusaders would start the match off taking the point at doubles. Orynbassar would make it 2-0 WCU with a 7-1,6-1 victory at #1 singles with
Matt Shearer winning 6-1,6-0 at #2 singles. Steinbichler would seal the win with a 6-1,6-3 win at #5 singles.
WCU is back in action Tuesday, March 19, as they take on SCAD-Atlanta in non-conference action. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the Crusader Tennis Courts.
