HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Men's Tennis Team picked up a key conference win Thursday afternoon, defeating #14 Mobile 6-1 at the Crusader Tennis Courts.
After both teams picked up wins in doubles to start, it would come down to the #3 pair of
Tom Tillger/
Islam Orynbassar for Carey and William Crowe/Callum Dickson for Mobile to decide who would get the first point. The set would go back and forth but it would be WCU that would prevail in the end 7-6 to take the early lead.
The Rams would tie the match with a win at #1 singles but from there it was all Carey, as Orynbasser gave WCU the lead for good with a 7-6,6-0 win at #2 singles.
Noah Rockstroh followed with a 6-2,7-5 win at #3 singles with
Antoine Audrain clinching the match with a 6-3/6-3 win at #4 singles.
Jean Nicolas Leblanc and
Phil Louis Steinbichler would also win their matches.
WCU is back in action April 5 & 6, as they head to Montgomery, Ala. to take on Point University and UT-Southern in SSAC action.
