HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Baseball team overcame a slow start to defeat Bryant & Stratton College 5-2, Tuesday afternoon at Milton Wheeler Field.

The Wildcats struck first with a run in the first but Carey evened things up in the third on a Patrick Lee RBI single to left.  Lee picked up his second RBI of the game in the fifth on a double down the left field line to give WCU a 2-1 lead.

However, the Crusaders could not hold onto the lead as BSC pushed across one run and threatened, loading the bases with one out, but starting pitcher Dario Herrera induced back to back fly balls to work out of the jam.

Carey had the answer once again, taking the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth.  Billy Garrity plated the first run of the inning on a RBI double to left center and would later come around to score on a Wildcat error.  Rigoberto Hernandez drove in the final run of the game with a triple down the right field line.

The Crusaders are back in action tomorrow, as they travel to Alexandria, La. to take on LSU-Alexandria.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
